Residential: Sizing a Unit
There are a few factors to consider when you determine what ScaleBlaster unit you should get:
Water hardness level
Refer to the map on the right to determine your water hardness level. Of course, this is a general inductor of what your actual water hardness is. If you have a well, your water hardness readings will actually be much higher than shown on this chart. City water will differ from well water. For reference: gpg= grains per gallon. ppm= parts per million and is the same a mg/L
The SB-75 and SB-175 will handle water hardness levels up to 19 gpg. If the water hardness level is 20 gpg or higher, the SB-MAX should be used.
Size of House
If the house is very large or with multiple floors and several bathrooms, the SB-MAX is strongly recommended.
Pipe Type
All ScaleBlaster residential models will work on these types of pipe – COPPER, PVC, CPVC and PEX pipe.
